I believe everyone is already very familiar with the jack, a vehicle-mounted tool, when we change the spare tire, we need the jack to come in handy. But for some novice drivers, they may not have a thorough understanding of this thing, and they don't even know how to use it. So, how to use the jack, and what is the working principle of the jack.


The correct use steps of the jack:

  1. First of all, before using the jack, you need to park the car and put down the safety triangle at a distance of 50-150 meters from the back of the vehicle. Of course, we have to turn off the car to avoid the jack slipping due to engine vibration.

  2. Then use a jack to align the support point at the bottom of the car. As for the support point, you need to follow the position marked by the car manufacturer (near the side skirt). After all, the design of each car is different.

  3. Finally, it’s the part where the jack is used. Connect the matching wrench and sleeve to the back of the jack, and then directly rotate it to control the height of the jack. But we must not use too much force when operating, otherwise the jack will easily be deformed.


Working principle of jack:

Jacks are divided into mechanical jacks and hydraulic jacks, etc., and their principles are different.Let's talk about the mechanical jack first. Pull the handle back and forth, and pull the pawl to push the ratchet gap to rotate. The small bevel gear drives the large bevel gear to rotate the weightlifting screw and allow the lifting sleeve to rise and fall freely.As for the principle of the hydraulic jack, it is based on Pascal's law (the pressure across the liquid is the same). In a balanced system, pistons of different sizes can keep the liquid stationary by applying different pressures. Then by the transmission of liquid, different pressures on different ends can be obtained, so as to achieve the effect of force transmission.
